67. Satya (Honesty) 90min Beginner Friendly Class
1h 27m
Satya, the second of the 5 Yamas, calls us realign with our highest integrity. When we practice honest compassionate self-reflection, we can see where we are and are not aligned with our values. We can practice this ability to self-reflect as we practice asana on the mat, and continue the practice throughout our everyday lives as well.
The physical postures of this class focus on the hips (both mobility and strength building) as well as abdominal strength and the possibility of some backbends. As always, there are lots of options presented so you can align with your body's truth (Satya) and treat yourself with kindness (Ahimsa).
The 5 Yamas, translated from Sanskrit as "ethical restraints", form the first limb of the 8 Limbed Yoga path of yoga outlined by Patanjali. It is one of the most popular and revered frameworks for the practices of yoga. Each class in this series can stand alone, yet present an opportunity to learn more about yogic philosophy in an embodied way. May this knowledge catalyze both inner inquiry and outer action toward positive social change!
